Sub Rosa

Remember that single flower you picked?
Gathered in stealth and trespass,
Far, so far in that arid land
And I, a whisper on the wind.
How could you help yourself, I ask,
When all around was dust and sticks?

Was it her blush, her cunning sway,
That made you stop and marvel?
Or did you breathe the heady scent
Of thwarted dreams before you bent?
Did you not feel those thorns at all?
They ripped your heart from mine that day.

Warm petals parting, smooth silken lies,
Frisson of sweet illusion -
Safe, so safe in your treacherous arms,
That fraudulent rose, ephemeral balm…
Was it because the clouds had gone
That in your eyes she saw the sky?

Remember that single flower you took?
Wild and wanton, undeserved,
The one you swore you’d thrown away?
I found that flower the other day -
Fragrant still and perfectly preserved,
Pressed in the pages of our book.

This is among the best poems I've read on-line. You don't waste words. Your rhythm is tight. Your rhymes aren't forced.

Good stuff.

I don't know if I'll ever be able to pick another rose...

Oh Gill....I spend hours reading poetry, but this is without any question THE most poignant I have ever read, I'm sitting here with tears streaming down my face. Every word so poignantly phrased, beautifully woven to create a place that so many of us have been and that so many of us can associate with. Only someone who has experienced the ultimate betrayal, could write from the heart like this.
...Sublime mon ami, sublime. *whispers it's Deb by the way* xx

t These cleaners make the surfaces too slick, which can cause injuries during your next workout. Wiping down the Bowflex after every use keeps it in top condition, and prevents residue from sweat from building up. To make cleaning your Bowflex more convenient, keep a spray bottle of mild soap mixed with water and soft cloths stored near the machine. Bring foam sleeping pads to go under each sleeping bag. For very cold weather, bring two foam sleeping pads per tent. The sleeping pads block the cold ground temperature from your body. Your body needs quality nourishment to provide it with the calories and nutrients to stay warm. Choose dehydrated and freeze-dried foods that will not freeze or spoil. Dried meats, nuts, crackers and dried fruits are all excellent and nourishing foods for cold-weather camping. In fact, the Sports Injury Clinic advises not draining a blood-filled blister. Babies don't need much soap or shampoo, but toddlers will need more as they explore and discover the world. For green ideas for soap, think natural ingredients. Manufacturers like Weleda, California Baby and Burt's Bees all have baby lines that are made from natural ingredients, rather than toxic chemicals.Reinforcement is essential in the longevity of a summer sleeping bag. Look for materials such as synthetics or pertex nylon for the exterior rather than cotton or cloth, which is prone to moisture accumulation and condensation. Reinforced draft collars and zippers will prevent tearing of lightweight fabric---a common pitfall with summer bags. If the air is dry, have the child carry a face mask or piece of cloth. The teacher can wet the fabric and the child can breathe through it to help relieve dryness. Any exercise should begin with a short warmup activity.. DOMS is likely a result of actual muscle damage. MedlinePlus recommends consulting a physician if you have severe pain, or if pain beyond normal soreness persists for more than three days. It should not be used as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Cycling Clothing There's allowed a little bit of give there by the bolts that connect the brake to the bike. The other thing I'll check is that my headset, this is my headset, are that my handle bars are tight. So I do that by grabbing my front brake and just wiggling back and forth the bike a little bit. Simple over-the-counter splints are helpful if you have a less severe strain but still need to keep your calf immobile for a period of time. Although splints can be helpful, healing a strain requires a proper balance of rest and mobility. If the splint is left on too long, it can weaken your muscle..
